Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Little Star

picture of my daughter when she was much younger (she's 16 now)
Shine on little star
Claim your place in the sky; your light
shall not be obscured
You are a daughter
of the Sun and Moon, no lesser than
the many sons
Your beauty
illuminates the night
Your radiance
guides the way
Your fire
will protect you and those you love
Do not be daunted by the vastness
of the Heavens
They were made for you
to have a place to dance

Oh yes!!! Dance on!! This is lovely, absolutely lovely! If we could teach our daughters one thing, it would have to be this...

What great advice from a mother to a daughter, especially the last four lines, which made my heart sing.

This is a beautiful celebration of the young womanhood blossoming in a girl-child. As the mother of daughters, I add my applause.

I SO LOVE THIS POEM!!!!!! How tender and beautiful....I especially love the heavens being a place for her to dance. Just beautiful, as is her bright and shining face. Truly, a star could not shine any brighter.

This is such a joyous tribute to your daughter--and such a beautiful face! I hope you have shown it to her and that she is still aiming to dance among the stars. Thanks for visiting my blog as well.
