Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Lost In Translation

Scarlett Johansson in Lost In Translation
"Poetry is what gets lost in translation."  Robert Frost

When did we become strangers?
Did it happen gradually
or
was there some shift in the Earth
and
two people who were friends
suddenly
became unable to recognize one another?
We used to complete each others' sentences
Now
We speak different languages
live
in different time zones
We have developed a permanent case of
lovers' jet lag
Effortlessness transformed into intentionality
The words are still there
but
the poetry got lost in translation.

Wow, that is so sad when this happens. I had something similar happen within the past 6 months. Blind-sided me. Now my grand-daughter completes my sentences. I settle for that. Life must go on.

usually it seems to happen gradually and we dont even notice it until one day we look up and realize...pretty sad actually, but all too real...

Well Done, so captured the elusive
feel we get when the dots don't connect.

This is so sad...and these lines are the best for me:

We have developed a permanent case of
lovers' jet lag
Effortlessness transformed into intentionality

All too often, everything gets lost in translation.

Yes, that happens. I'm glad it hasn't happened to me any time lately.

This is so brilliant. You have caused this reader to recognize every word as true. There is nothing more confusing than trying to figure out where the friendship went.
