Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Don't Let Them Steal Your Wonder

Deep blue by buleria
Don't let them steal your wonder
Don't let them get you down
If you feel you're goin' under
Kick out hard and you won't drown
Don't you let them make you jaded
Don't you let them make you cold
It's their own souls they have traded
and their hearts that they have sold
They just want to make you smaller
They just want to make you crawl
They've forgotten how to rise up
so they need to make you fall
Don't let them steal your wonder
Be protective of your dream
When they tell you to be quiet
That's the time you have to scream.

For some reason this came to me, when I read it, in the form of a chorus from some horribly catchy song. That doesn't mean (in my book) that it's bad poetry in any way at all. In fact, I think this is quite wonderful! *smile*

Excellent. Advice I always try to follow. Try to, anyway. "Illegitemati no carborundum"

AAAAAAAAAAMEN!!!! :) Was that loud enough?

Love this poem! Absolutely, totally, completely uplifting and empowering. And I've been very saddened by the number of angry people I see around town and stuff that obviously don't want to be happy... they just want to drag me down. xoxo

What type of medium is it and can I put it in a glass frame?

Thanks all for the kind words! It did actually come to me as a song (too bad I can't sing!)

@ Bradley A. Peraino: I'm flattered to have this included on your list. Thank you.
