Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

New Year's Arting
Been a bit obsessed with Phoenixes lately, although this guy (gal?) looks more like a flaming hummingbird!

Migraine Art
Been really struggling with daily migraines for the past week or so, and the usual preventives and rescue meds aren't doing the trick so much. Very frustrating. Difficult to focus on reading or computer related activities with demons twisting your optic nerves.
Anyway, I did manage to put together this piece expressing my mood of late. Thanks to Micael C. for his idea of using print pages for the background, which I blatantly stole from a favorite painting of his that's hanging in my art room.

Fall To Black
and autumn chill is finally in the air
The gold and yellow fall down to the earth
and when I think of you, I fall to black.
October's fading light brings melancholy
Spirits resurrected from their graves
Your ghost haunts dusty corners of my memory
I see you in my dreams and fall to black.
You came to me so suddenly
You left that way as well
I try to be okay with it, but
Sometimes it's just hell.
The morning sun awakens tired limbs
but soon there will be frost upon the grass
Without a winter, there can be no spring
I close my eyes and let it fall to black.

Mouse's Cherry Tree
I've been arting again! The flowers are all blooming around here. We have a gorgeous Japanese Cherry Kwanzan tree in our yard that inspired me to try this project. The background is watercolor and the blossoms are mulberry paper dyed with watercolor (pink) and yellow stamping ink in the middle. The leaves are green mulberry paper. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.
Happy Spring!
