Been really struggling with daily migraines for the past week or so, and the usual preventives and rescue meds aren't doing the trick so much. Very frustrating. Difficult to focus on reading or computer related activities with demons twisting your optic nerves.
Anyway, I did manage to put together this piece expressing my mood of late. Thanks to Micael C. for his idea of using print pages for the background, which I blatantly stole from a favorite painting of his that's hanging in my art room.

Alice in Migraine Land
![]() |
The Queen of Hearts
has baked some tarts
but they had MSG
now Alice has a migraine
and can't hold down her tea.
Her head feels like a blimp now
her legs are made of lead
There's pounding in her ears and
Alice wants to go to bed!
The caterpillar's smoking
is making Alice queasy
If pain vanished like Cheshire Cats
then life would be so easy!
One potion makes her larger
One potion makes her small
but Alice knows the awful truth-
There is no cure at all.

Phoenix

| Phoenix by Timo-san |
from a long day of
nothing
but mental masturbation
and self-flagellation
Brain packed with eider down
fuzzed filled
forgetful
The clock
the enemy
ticking away the day
time to rally
move the leaden limbs
accomplish something
anything
maybe tomorrow
I've been shot down
in flames
and I want to believe
in rebirth
but I'm still waiting
burnt feathers
and charred carrion.

Number Five
I dance on the edges of dreams and wakefulness
I hear your laugh
on the car radio
You've been whispering my name at night
I don't believe in ghosts
so I know it's you
You love me; you love me not
You love me; I'm tied in knots
Words puzzle me
How they fit together then
fly apart again
I wash my laundry in beer
How is it
that your face is in every ink blot?
You look so beautiful with wings.

The Story of Lorelei Lolita Liscoe
Just before stepping out
on her big date, Lorelei Lolita Liscoe discovered
the perfect combination of
pot
powders and
potables
to make her feel
just right.
The only problem she couldn't tweak away
was an annoying
pink mouse
in her peripheral vision
that wagged its finger at her
as if she were a naughty toddler who
stole a cookie.
She decided she could live
with this minor side-effect.
However
in her haste to apply make-up and perfume
for her big date
Lorelei Lolita Liscoe forgot
to write down the recipe for her potion.
This truly presented a predicament for
the date went smashingly
and a second was planned
for the following Friday.
Lorelei Lolita Liscoe was not a woman
to panic.
She had earned her Girl Scout Gold Award
with badges in
cooking
chemistry and
herbaceous healing.
She would duplicate the formula
before her next date.
Attempt number one was not
so great:
uncontrollable sneezing
intermittent aphasia
alopecia
earlobe dysplasia.
Try number two
would not do:
crying jags and
halitosis
itchy elbows
madarosis.
Finally
on her third try
Lorelei Lolita Liscoe believed
she had her nostrum
replicated.
replicated.
This pleased her for several reasons:
1. Her date was that night
2. She was beginning to worry she wouldn't feel just right ever again
3. Her intake of pills, pot, powders, and potables that week had exceeded anything she had ever previously experienced and
4. She was starting to feel a tad strange.
Just before stepping out
on her second big date, Lorelei Lolita Liscoe downed
her elixir.

an annoying
pink mouse
lying in a bed made from
hair and eyelashes. It was
wagging its finger.
The Liscoe family decided to hold
an open casket funeral, saying
she seemed so lovely and so peaceful.
The mourners at the viewing of
Lorelei Lolita Liscoe all agreed that
she looked
just right.Lorelei Lolita Liscoe all agreed that

Blue Pill Blues

Economy's down
The budget's tight
We have to make some cuts
We'll lay off teachers
Reduce food stamps
Tighten belts we must!
And out health care
It's so wasteful
We can trim some frills
Use generics
Pre-approvals
Just keep our blue pills!
Diabetics
They can manage
Without their injections
But without
Our Viagra
We'll have no erections!
Fingers ache
From arthritis
Hurting to the bone?
We don't care
Meds cost money
We want groins of stone!
Who gives a damn
If some woman
Has another pup?
Birth control
Doesn't matter
If we can't get it up!
So go ahead
Cut our health care
Fix financial ills
But don't you ever
Touch our manhood
Give us our blue pills!
