Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Rabbit Risen

source
I don't believe in miracles
but you've been resurrected
I watched as you died
and I prayed for the miraculous
and now
you rise
like a beautiful, crazy Jesus
screaming "Holy shit, y'all, I'm back!"

Belief and doubt
do a tango in my head
til I'm too dizzy to think

God and I have a tenuous relationship
I want to believe all the promises
but what if they're lies?
What if faith is just gullibility?
What if doubt closes a window?
I believe what I see
and I see you here
Now

Hallelujah!

faith is def not easy...and it is much easier to accept that which we can see...even if we can not explain it...

and yo happy holidays...

maybe the meer fact that you want to believe and take the time to write about it means you believe just a touch... faith in something that is so confusing is a mess in the mind... at least for me... but I figure if I spend so much time with questions of why and when... how and where... I must believe... or I would not take so much time to wonder???

just thinking...

This is so different and original, like that old breath of fresh air. Thanks for it. Splendid take on the prompt.

I'm smiling. I like Jesus' response to the resurrection. The way I look at it: if you believe, there's comfort in that and more than likely you'll weave meaning and kindness into your living. If there's nothing after...you won't know it! But I personally do believe.

This is an interesting one, LM. I like the musing tone, and the positive feel it has. Hope you have a wonderful holiday, and that bag you got at Danny's comes through for you. ;_)

I admire the way you have worked the metaphor in this poem. The whole has an ultra-modern feel about it, with a strong narrative voice.

ooo you extended and spun that metaphor so well here! I think you have hit the nail on the head - a dilemma many believers face - "God and I have a tenuous relationship
I want to believe all the promises
but what if they're lies?
What if faith is just gullibility?
What if doubt closes a window?" - well presented and explored here! nice write!
