Magnolia blooms and katydids
The fireflies and summer ponds
Bright red silks and lemon pies
Why bother with life's mundane chores?
When you can just say Fiddle Dee!
A lovely face and spirit fine
Are not meant for drudgery
Let's keep the conversation light
Companionship is meant to please
No need for bookish discourse, dear
And world events are such a bore!
Of course you're free to flatter me
A girl so loves to hear her name
And in return I'll sing your praise
A small white lie is not a sin.

Totally agree that white lies are not a sin. Frankly dear this was sublime. (not a white lie)

This is perfectly composed.

A very nice piece. I liked it!

I also love the last line. I also enjoy the progression of seriousness. From lemon pies and "Fiddle Dee" to "a small white lie is not a sin."
i think you just captured scarlet in your words.
fantastic.
