Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

White Lie

I told my love a small white lie
It was of no import
To spare his feelings, that was why
I gave a false report.

But a lie is like the phosphorus
That coats a matchstick head
Though small and white, it's poisonous
and volatile once said.

Tree Rats (Are Wonderful!)

Who me? (image source)

Warm and playful
Cute and smart
Quick and clever
Thief
You steal what you need
and hoard what’s left
 Ingenious little bandit
Even the most impenetrable heart
Opens to your love bites
Scornful of dalliance
You tear it apart
Scatter the scraps
and dash off
Chattering.

submitted for Imaginary Garden With Real Toads, Fireblossom Friday, FB Joins a Convent in which FB asks us to write a poem which DOES NOT reflect our true feelings (I detest the psychotic squirrels that steal our hummingbird nectar and that nested in my attic last year!)

You

 You're a little, little man
Trying to play me for the fool
Did you think you had a plan?
What an idiot you are!
Just a worthless, paltry pissant, and an
utter trifling tool.

You're an itty bitty boy
And I really hate your hat
Try to treat me like a toy?
See what happens to you now
Go away and don't annoy
me anymore you rotten rat!

You're a small pathetic loser
and a parasitic tick
You know that it's all true, sir
I am looking down at you
Come on, face me, your accuser
Jeez, you really make me sick!
