I love to get a mammogram each year
I count the days until my scheduled time
Apprehension, nervousness, and fear
Emotions that I always find sublime!
I love the gorgeous gowns I get to wear
The feeling of couture as I parade
down the hall, front open, my boobs bare
Showing off the goods, my breasts displayed!
And then there's the technology advanced
The cold and heavy pressing metal plates
Like a play doh in a toy, I watched entranced
as boobs are squeezed into unnatural states!
And when the doctor calls, I gush effusive
Repeat because results are inconclusive!

I am totally impressed that you managed to do a SONNET. The way you described the experience made me smile. I so LOVE mammograms too....am so relieved when they are behind me for another year. But, oh yikes, that inconclusive strikes the FEAR~!
I once had a scare... and my mom has had breast cancer so it was really super scary... thankfully after an ultrasound everything was okay!
Aha! Yes, I think if men needed them more often a more comfortable mode might have been invented . . . (oh my! what a feminist thing to say)! But really, grateful as I am for the technology, I think these stanzas capture the truth of it.
Oh you have written a perfect sonnet to a mammogram. I have had to make those repeat visits..They always make me nervous.
well in this i am blessed to be a man...though i do check my parts periodically...my cousin had testicular cancer so...nicely written mouse...
Plop, plop, fizz, fizz .. oh what a relief it is ~~ when they unclamp that vise!
Hehehe. The picture for this is perfect! Those darn mammograms are such a pain. I hope the inconclusive part of your poem was a joke though. That is no fun.
I totally blame mammograms for my Breast Droop. Hee hee. Good one, Ms Mouse!
Well Done Lolamouse!
Ouch...pancake mold...hate it!
Bravo on your clever take :D
Yep! Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.
Thankfully, all of my cold visits have been clear. A Love Sonnet to a Mammogram, very impressive.
I just loved : 'like play doh in a toy'!
May the next set of results behave - inconclusive is ruddy annoying....!♥
Oh no. I do hope you have a better result now. I am so amazed you could do this to the strict form of a sonnet!
I like your Sonnet. Getting my breasts flattened for mammogram's is a small price to pay for knowing I'm cancer free but it doesn't stop me from always feeling very uncomfortable. Something all we women have to contend with. I do hate when they are inconclusive and then here comes another test.
