Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

This Is Just To Say...

William Carlos Williams died onMarch 4, 1963. In his memory, I have reprinted his poem and then 3 of my own "tributes" in his memory. No disrespect intended-I love his plum poem!

This Is Just To Say
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
I have drunk
the wine
that was in
the fridge

and which
you were probably
for dinner

Forgive me
it was there
and I'm
an alcoholic
I have copied
the term paper
that was on
your computer

and which
you were probably
going to turn in

Forgive me
you're so smart
and I need
an A

I have stolen
the poem
that you posted on
your blog

and which
you were probably
for publication

Forgive me
you're so creative
and have
no copyrights

Oh, I am rolling! Hahahaha! These are just too good, woman.

I HATE that plum poem! If that presumptuous bastard ate my plums, he'd be wearing whatever else was in that refrigerator. Then he'd go buy me some more dang plums.

And go ahead...swipe Brian's poems! runzzzzzz
