Status: Deluge

source
You want to know my secrets,
to spill the words over you
like shimmering water to quench flowers in the park
But some secrets should stay secret
Some waters should remain still
for when they begin to trickle,
they may just spew on the page
and splash up in your face
Raging jets of hurt
that will not be curbed
Once the storm has begun,
you can't stop the thunder
So step carefully
in this yard
or you may find yourself
knee deep in water.

Dangerous Things

Hodnot Spring House, Leakin Park, Baltimore, MD
Deep in the woods where black gum grow
Where children should not go
We have a place that is our own
The grown ups never know

When we go back into our woods
Adult rules don't belong
What we do we do as one
and we are never wrong

Some things you just don't speak of
Some things best left unsaid
You keep some secrets your whole life
They die on your death bed

The gang it always will protect
We watch out for our pack
But if you strike out on your own
you better watch your back

What we see in the woods that day
No one knows what's true
In the creek lay silently
a man that we all knew

Around his head the blood it pools
an accident we said
We leave him there right in the creek
Cause we know dead is dead

Some things you just don't speak of
Some things best left unsaid
You keep some secrets your whole life
They die on your death bed

Demons of the Night

Beware the demons of the night
They come to haunt the faded blooms
They whisper curses in your ear
You can't escape when the demons are near

Beware the demons of the night
They're long of tooth and white of hair
They wear your scars as their costume
Long buried secrets they cruelly exhume

Beware the demons of the night
They know what scares you most of all
Affairs, divorce, their eyes can see
Perhaps it's middle age ennui?

Beware the demons of the night
Lock them in the closet tight
Be a good wife, don't make a fuss
Brew up the coffee, put the kids on the bus.
