Watch, Wince, Repeat

source
She lies
Bruises easy
A fall she can't recall
She lives in fear; she dies within
Silence.
................................................

Daughter
She sees it all
Can't wait to leave this house
She weds a man who hits like Dad

Cinquains For a Saturday

Change or Die
Hanging
On the door frame
Opaque chrysalis clings
Butterfly inside its tight skin
Black, dead

source
 In the Bush
Robins
Eating berries
Holly bushes rustle
Squawks and feathers fill the chill air
Dog barks

He Loves Me Not

You gave a five petaled bloom to me
kissed and tucked behind my ear
You said that you must set me free
but your intent was very clear
You did not wish to be here

Time Out

"Time-Out" by Ella Wilson
I hope this bench is here when we are old
We'll rest when we grow tired from our walk
We'll reminisce of all the times we've strolled
These very streets as we watched life unfold
Or maybe we'll just hold hands and not talk.
