Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Amber

source
 You
oozed anger
out of every pore
Seething
Burning
Hot
Trapped everyone
in your path
of caustic destruction
But time
tempers
even the whitest flame
Anger hardens
fossilizes amberlike
You
polish your distortions
hoard your resentments
like precious stones
string them
on a necklace of self-righteousness
so heavy
You
can't even
breathe.

Sunrise Steady

Conditional love
Is not love at all
The sun still rises
Despite anger at the mountains

************************

Love does not retreat
In the face of challenge
Holding hands through the tempest
Sunrise steady

Anger

Words spit like hot oil
Disfigure a young spirit
Burn and scar a soul
