Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Storm Damage

I saw the sky go scarlet in your eyes
but didn't expect the storm
You were the first one to make me
feel beautiful
Now, you won't speak
except for rumblings of thunder
You throw lightning bolts in my face
The passion of your anger
blinds and burns
Where is the calm, emerald ocean
that used to live in your eyes?
The warm waters where my soul
bathed with yours?
If I said I'm sorry,
would the storm cease?
If I begged forgiveness,
would you look at me again
like you once did
or
Will there always be storm damage?

I know you don't like country music, but one of my favorite songs goes, "Storms never last, do they, baby?"
I like this poem, and I'm glad to see you back!

I am with Fireblossom I thought of the same song...(I'm a country boy>>> errr Old man)... lots of questions in this...someone else's storm often leaves collateral damage

storms pass like weather and time
they most always leave behind dammage of sorts and are remembered by those that must rebuild
ptsd is treatable but with support and with time

There are so many storms in life...some we can weather while others the damage is beyond repair...this does have the feeling of a country song... :)

Storms may offer a ride on the wild side, but have you noticed that when the storm passes, the air smells sweet and fresh. A dynamic poem.

I like the interplay between the storm and the ocean.

Wow! Just love those opening lines. Excellent metaphor well-sustained throughout.

Riding out the crashing waves, violent winds is never easy, in nature .. in life. This is quite thought-provoking, Mouse.

Miss Mouse you fill me with rain, while I too look for the rainbow of color that once held the morning sky~ Wow,this poem holds me captive waiting to hear how these storms pass and project you into a new world~ You dazzle us...wow

Storms destroy, and then again, lack of storms can destroy--and too often forces of that magnitude don't listen to apologies or prayers. Felt every word of this, LM--especially like the contrast of calm emerald ocean.

oh i liked the imagery of this very much. It has been my experience that there will always be storm damage. Sometimes it improves things..opens things up -you can live with the damage or walk away...but you can't wish it away

I've had a few storms to contend with over the years, I can tell you! Sometimes you just have to ride it out....!
