Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Peace By Peace

Peace by peace we make things right
When we can talk instead of fight
When understanding counters hate
Our differences are not so great
An open heart lets in the light

Not everything is black or white
The shades of grey enrich our sight
Let’s join together, share the weight
Peace by peace

There is no day without the night
Two sides to stories we may write
When we listen, we create
A bridge to connect and relate
Those once opposed some day unite

May it be so, may it flow… om shanti, shalom, salaam, peace, peace, peace.

Please consider yourself officially invited to participate this year's 5th Annual Gratitude (word) Quilt. Instructions (it is very simple) and a link that explains the origin of the word quilt can be found at the top of my blog. In past years there have been participants from every continent except Antarctica. I hope you'll join us:-)

Peace is definitely something that nations of the world should actively pursue. It must be worked on together as you have so aptly shown.

Something like a mantra here, LM. Everything covered, everything peaced together.

"The shades of grey enrich our sight" That really does sum everything up in a nutshell!

Very nice! There isn't enough of it around these days. Isn't peace what we all want in every aspect of our lives?

There can be no peace until haiku is driven from the land!

Shades of gray are the thing that too many, especially in congress, don't understand.

Peace by peace...love that. May we find the peace to come together, to work together, to accomplish together

Lola, Loved the title, first off. As for the poem, I'm all about the greys, the middle ground, which is where peaceful compromise lies. Another take is racial harmony, and that is the color somewhere between dark honey and light molasses... Honestly, this is beautiful. Peace, Amy
