|Pablo Picasso: Girl Before a Mirror, 1932|
I try on words like
clothes in a bargain basement
Under the harsh lights
my bare feet on grimy, threadbare carpet
I imagine a perfect fit
One look in the mirror shatters
Loose phrases hanging off the body
The words looked so much sexier
in my head than
on the paper
With a sigh, I hang them back up
with all the other rejects.

I'm always amazed at how much better clothing and words look in my imagination - your poem captures the feeling perfectly!
Very nice! Don't the words ALWAYS look sexier in our head than they do on paper?? Well expressed.
oh, i LOVE this SO much, Sheri!!!
thank you for joining in at Poetry Jam!
bravo, I feel both ways about trying on cloths and my writing attempts, you have painted this perfect
Oh I know this feeling. So many wonderful stories in my head that just don't come out the same when I try to put them on paper
ha. sometimes yes...i have notebooks full of them....some i save for days that i might find the perfect thing to go with them as well...smiles.
Oh, that is so true!
I love this analogy - but your words always sound pretty darned good to me, kiddo!
Very well put and clever Lolamouse! Excellent take on the prompt! You are just getting better and better! You go girl! You deserved alot more +1's on word craft like this! I haven't done Magpie Tales or any of these for awhile but maybe I should. I like to write poems sometimes more than blogs. ♥
