Touchdown at Heathrow
London love affair is born
Oxford aspirations
West End wishes
Topped with chocolate sponge pudding
Her rural southern roots
Confine her
Like a prisoner in a tower
She dreams of escaping Underground
To emerge speaking the Queen's English
"Stop"?
Oh no. She's just beginning.

Thanks for taking part in One Shoot today! Never been to London. Perhaps this summer when I'll go visit Pete Marshall of OSP. Always wanted to go. As with your poem, sounds like a place of dreams with much to see. Excellent, vivid transformation of a young lady breaking out of bucolic confinement to emerge as citified royalty.
Nice...I was wondering if anyone was going to do the London Undergroud. Nice Write! Mind the gap!!!
Mind the gap, girl.
I thought I recognized the London tube in this one.
ha! New discoveries, how wonderful, so many new things to get into, yes don't stop :)

I like it and there is quick illusion that the escalator was moving. smiles
Bravo! I like this so much. What fun ...
I love subways ... Poem on and happy Potluck, Lola.
Nice work! A perfect spot to pick for a suffocated protagonist.
I flew through there once but have not been to the city. I am craving a european excursion though... my brother lives abroad, so there is always a good excuse for a trip. :) Beautiful poem.

MY favorite part:
Her rural southern roots
Confine her
Like a prisoner in a tower
I got lost in Heathrow. Ended up having a warm beer and a wet sandwich with an Australian guy.
I like this! Queen's English? Does it still exist here?!!! lol
The Oxford reference is spot on, glad you didn't put Cambridge...

Someone is Special
Perfectly pen.. Yeah, that is just the beginning.. *wink*
Wonders of places experienced through the eyes of another... such a special way to travel.
your poem makes me want to travel, to discover the wonders you described.
There's always something new to discover..what a gift!!
Sounds like a fun journey and the way to go.
Ah, the poem goes so well with the picture - I've been overseas, but not to England, and I can relate to the southern roots seeming like chains...this was a fun romp. :) If you haven't been there, I hope you get to go! (And definitely escape to see the sights!)
lovely! here's my potluck.. http://fiveloaf.wordpress.com/2010/02/22/springtide/
My goodness! Escalators give me vertigo. The poem and photograph are excellent. Thank you!
