She Makes the Flowers Bloom at Night

source
She makes the flowers bloom at night
She borrows magic from the moon
Collecting stars, she holds their light
and makes the midnight shine like noon.
Pale luna moth from dark cocoon
seeks out her flaming auburn hair.
Enchanted girl with shoulders bare,
unnamed goddess, who can she be?
I would be lifted from despair
if she would shine her light on me.

This is lovely.
Romantic and sweet. I'm in the mood for sweet these days, when so many things are harsh.aprille.me

Nice poetry form and rhyming words...I like the pale luna moth and enchanted girl ~

Great little poem! Very gentle and neatly tied off--until I try to stick it with this very ungentle song which makes me wonder if I read it right. Is the poem about sex too?

This is a wonderful ode to the full moon (as I read it) with such a lilting cadence from your word choice. I love the way these lines lifted it all up a notch half way through your poem:

Pale luna moth from dark cocoon
seeks out her flaming auburn hair...

Ach. And now I'm reading that poem as an REM song. It fits. Awesome.

Susan,

Not at all. As I was writing the poem, I kept hearing the song in my head. Writing about flowers blooming at night reminded me of the title of the song.

It makes me think of a painting I once did...or maybe one I need to do. Another fairy
So lovely the way your words paint the picture in my mind
