I walk the boards among the Cypress.
The air smells of wet earth and decaying leaves.
If I take the time to see them, I find mud turtles, box turtles, green frogs.
Woodpecker holes dot the holly trees.
The creek dances through Cypress knees.
An intruder breaks my reverie.
Plastic bottle floats
Open mouthed, filled with water
A dead, bloated fish

ewww...nice picture to end on there...love your descriptions though as you put us right there...
Civilization always screws up nature!
Very nice one Lola!
How beautifully painted! A whole lot more need to be done to save the environment.
This is so true...I love how you worked this into the environmental tragedy our trash has become...my oldest daughter works for the state of Texas in the estuary program...clean water is her passion
powerful imagery
Loved your visualization...Nice haiku :)
Sounds like our local canal!
Well described!!
Oh, I hate the garbage that seems to be an inevitable part of our most precious landscapes!

I like this...very sad that we destroy the environment with our trash....and i like that last line...dead bloated fish ~
Ouch! Thanks for reminding us of our insensitivity and stupidity.
Wonderfully poignant!

I love this including the ending. I see those bottles and trash in some of the most beautiful remote places here and it makes me so sad.
Wonderful direction, powerful image portrayed, and captivating journey you lead us through -- all the way to the end!! I have a particular love for cypress and cypress knees -- so I was "right there"!! Unexpected punch at the end! :-)
A nice serene build up then a hard let down. Yikes!
Beautiful! Indeed nature is disturbed by people like us.. Thanks for blessing this one..
