It's just hell getting old. Yes this is a scene, another snapshot of the human condition. It's so difficult to come into someone's life at the end, to not know them at their quirkiest and best. Then you learn to love their oddities and eccentricities and they don't seem so annoying as they do at the end. Beautifully written shadorma. Gay
Simple words yet expressed it all in from the hands... this left me 'speechless', was torn between replying to what the nurse asked in a lighted-hearted way and soft but kind of sad way.. so give up in the end.. :)
"What hurts, hon?" — that question hangs in the air like the peal of a bell. Well done. You and I have both done our shadormas on the elderly and pain of aging.
