Persephone by Patricia Ariel |
I believed that you loved me;
you dragged me down to hell.
I thought I was your queen,
but your kingdom had gates I could not pass.
What I thought was passion
was me being devoured by your fire.
Now all that’s left of me
is bone and ash.
I have only myself to blame;
I swallowed your lies, seeds and all.

Your final four lines tell a timeless tale of the fallibility of human relationships. I love that artwork too.
seeds and all...being devoured is not bad, except in the context you put it...being left with nothing but ash...ack...
Grim reality?
Hope you're still in one piece :-)
I specially like that last line ~ Enjoyed your take on this LM ~ Hope spring comes soon ~
"What I thought was passion was me being devoured by your fire...." what a terrific line! Great write, Lolamouse!
aaah, persephone's story is one of my favorites. excellent.
Wonderful poem - this captured how it feels when you get destroyed so completely you don't know where to go. Superb!
Truth often is not pretty. I think each of us has swallowed lies, seeds and all before. Great Write!!
An excellent write, Lolamouse, "seeds and all" is perfect.

Wow, that's powerful. Love it!
Chilling, but oh so saddly too often true.
You do an excellent job illustrating the differences in perspective and enhanced understanding.
Wow, this is painted so well...
damn those seeds~
Bravo Lolamouse :D
Oh, this is the second poem I read about love and lies. I wonder who lies more -- men or women?
