Wolves

source
Hold me tight
I hear the wolves at my door
Please don't leave me alone now
I do not have the strength to fight

I hear the wolves at my door
I knew they would come for me
But do not have the strength to fight
I am depleted

I knew they would come for me
Strong seeks out strong
But I am depleted
From taming your monsters

Strong seeks out strong
So I will face the fangs
Tamed, your monsters
Sleep now

I will face the fangs
But please don't leave me alone
Sleep now, but
Hold me tight.

Brilliant combination. The form allows the love and fear of marriage to work through.

Love how you were able to use the poem for two challenges. You did an incredible job with the Pantoum form. I didn't even tackle it.

Even heroes need to sleep.

I'll stand watch awhile.

I love a pantoum with subtle changes in the repeating lines: that's the real way to write them, in my opinion. This was excellently done to the wolf theme.

it's good to look them in the eyes and face the fangs..but needs much strength to do so...good when there is someone who holds you..

Great combination of the prompts!

The writer has strength and yet is needing someone to lean on for strength to be strong too. The wolves can be anything in this too, can't they?
Very powerful in its imagery. Fierce looking wolf pic too :)

Yours is the second pantoum I've read this morning and I quite like the way the form serves your message. Well done.

nice...love this mouse...the wolves may come but facing them together is def a beautiful thing...and makes it so much easier...

I loved the transitions throughout this poem. First the fear of the wolf, but as the poem goes on the taming and the facing the fangs. Sometimes a person has more bravery than first imagined. Nice.

Nicely done! I am mulling over trying to do one. I have done villanelles in the past and they are similar in structure.

Well done! I like how you so-very-subtly vary the refrain lines, turning the definitive voice into a whisper by the end of the pantoum.

This segment made me think...how at times when we try to fix other peoples problems we have no more strength to care for ourselves...

Well done!!

So nicely done, Lolamouse. Love the pantoum and you executed it so well. I so relate to being tired of being strong.......

Somehow there's no place to leave comments on your most recent post "August Hangs", so i had to drop back here. Weird, huh?
