Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Supplicant to the Moon

source
The milk moon sits in the night sky
like a glowing pearl.
Wolf rises
scents the air for blood
and bays a song of seduction.
Artemis,
guard well your nymphs
flushed pink with spring
and wild as the violets
braided in their hair.
Send music from your lyre in Zephyr's
hands. The beast will be hushed
as raindrops fall on his dreaming eyes.
Come dawn
the scent of musk and
petrichor.

submitted for Imaginary Garden With Real Toads, Poem Sketching
(my word group was violets, petrichor, nymph, flush, milk moon)

I always love to be transported by mythology, and the union between man and nature. Lovely work.

Great fantasia. Especially, with the scent of petrichor (my favorite morning waft)

Mmmmm....

Were I a wolf, the maidens need not fear.

For their lives, anyway.
