Time stops
for a moment, frozen
The bay
hides her secrets under
a cold, varnished lid
Branches of tall oaks
sheathed in shimmer
Pine needles
ensconced in ice
Winter's toothpicks
Dogwood
dripping diamonds
Ephemeral jewels
fleeting and
precious.

The way water clings and drop from branches during the melting of snow is poetry just in itself.
I love the jewels of Mother Nature.
This is lovely, lovely!!
Beautiful!
Beautifully done.
Lola, I like all of the Bay's not-fun in the cold. Blame it on Mother Nature (and Climate Change).
Precious jewels are those "Pine needles ensconced in ice." Short lived though.

"winter's toothpick"
Your images are ridiculously vivid and beautiful!
There is something secretive about winter time. Your description is apt and beautiful.
Felt like I was intruding in a private moment. Very pretty
A beautiful description of this beauty. Thanks. K.
Ps this is manicddaily!
The perfect picture accompanying the perfect poem. The bigger click is amazing.
A beautiful description of frozen nature.
This is so beautiful. Though I'm ready for this winter to be over, argh... still, the beauty is all around us. I love your description of the way as a jar with a lid... I'm picturing one of those old mason jars with a thick glass lid. Really lovely, thank you. :)
