She's Mine

I
am
Mama
Understand
If you hurt my babe
I will tear you into pieces
I would sink an entire ship
to keep the sea safe
for one fry
because
she's
mine.

Lola, what a dare! Keeping her little one, her "small fry," and holding the fish, nice little wordplay there. But most important - this girl has a lion's heart... a mother's heart. And aren't those the same thing?

BRILL! Amy

Your reaction to the painting must have been from the gut...what's is so important is that we want to make our children feel safe...clever!

Succinct and uncompromising and perfect use of the form, LM--you have definitely struck a chord that runs through us mamas. Thanks for playing.

Damn straight! Don't all mothers feel this way? If not, they should. Lovely work, Linda.

I went with Henry & Adele instead.

What a perfect accompanying poem to such interesting artwork! You always pull it off, Lola...and I liked the kinda fin shape to your words format!

Very cool take, love the "mother bear" of the sea angle. Awesome work with the form.
