What a wonderful choice of subject, and I adore the closing lines.

This is as airy and soaring (and a lot more musical) than a twin engined plane. A mysterious woman, and definitely a rebel for her time. Great take on the prompt, LM.

You wrote such few words, but gave us such a grand look at Amelia. What it must have been like to be a woman pilot in male dominant skies!

Wonderful. In all my life, I haven't made the connection: Air. Heart.
She certainly died doing what she wanted to do. A woman to admire, a woman to emulate.

One thing is for sure, she died doing what she loved to do.
Lovely tribute to a very adventurous woman.

Amelia. Loved the wordplay with her last name. You're so right - she soared. THe last line nailed me right to the wall. Just wonderful.

This prompt is delightful, no? Amy

You really got inside the character of the subject of your poem. Licking her lips? I wonder.

This reads as a tribute, and an anthem for all women who embrace freedom in which ever form they choose. Loved it.

When I started writing my piece, I considered Amelia as well. I too think there was a bit of deliciousness in the free fall that we will never understand. Thanks for posting to out of standard, and viva la

Actually I'll bet she died cussing out her navigator and wishing she hadn't brought a man along in the first place. (grin, wink)

your wings never clipped...

Well, at least not by a human. She totally fascinates me and I follow the news when they think they find her crash site.

Have you seen this Smithsonian Magazine article dated March 20, 2012?

What a great way to describe loving life to the last drop! Amelia was such an amazing woman. I definitely think she liked her lips. :)

All right, girly, where the heck have you gone? Inside your mousey hidey hole?
