Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

A Calling Out

This poem is not polite
This poem means to trespass
This poem is angry

You call me immoral
Your morals are conveniences
You are a hypocrite
No, this poem is not polite

You value life
and support the death penalty
Does inconsistency make you uncomfortable?
This poem trespasses on your comfort

The only life you value
is rich and white
Others you condemn to suffer
This poem understands anger

This poem spits at politeness
This poem trespasses through your morals
This poem is angry.

Too many words for Flash 55+ so submitted for Imaginary Garden With Real Toads, Tuesday Platform

love love love this. it is a position i choose for discourse and conversation i have constantly for those hypocrites who profess to be 'pro-life' when they choose to be for the death penalty, or war mongers, or trophy hunters, pro-gun, pro-doing away with Medicare and social security, anti utilization of taxes for Planned Parenthood, etc., etc., etc.,

gracias mi amiga

I love this form ~~ not easy, though you made it look so.

Does inconsistency make you uncomfortable?

That's a question I would like to ask more than one person I know.

All life is sacred - even a lion. I understand the anger and reasoning behind your poem but there has to be a better way that scrapping a baby (cells, fetus, whatever you want to call it)from the womb or stabbing into his/her developed brain to end his/her life.
You are right that there is responsibility that is lacking behind the prolife movement.
I think you did a powerful job with your poem and we all need to express our deepest conviction and anger.
