The trees are older than our cares
I walk beneath a cypress sky
I hear the barred owl's plaintive cry
And soon forget the day's affairs.
The birds and frogs sing joyful prayers
The breeze breathes like a lover's sigh
The trees are older than our cares
I walk beneath a cypress sky.
I spy a young deer unawares
The cypress watch us live and die
The creek keeps flowing by and by
Its secrets with the earth it shares
Its secrets with the earth it shares
The trees are older than our cares.

apart from this - perfect, smooth flow, great content - kudos!
Beautiful. I love trees.
Very cool poem! I've never seen this form before. :) It is definitely comforting sometimes to know that certain things, people, issues, etc. have been around far longer than your worries... and are still standing tall. :)
My Poet's Rally Poem: Beachy Winter.
Oh... lovely!!! In our life, we get so obsessed with our worries and pleasantries that we forget to notice what's around and who might be watching us... but these old tress, sitting wise and stolid, ever watching..ever knowing.. aren't they just awesome?!?!?
A beautifully written One Shot, Lola... and the image you have chosen is equally pretty!

Here's My Poem For Poets Rally
Those old cypress trees reign over the land,
forever watchful, forever grand,
They protect loved ones with limbs outstretched, and whisper lullabies, no, that's not farfetched. Beautiful trees and a beautiful poem. Thank you.
