Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

You, Double

Source
What are words worth
when we wield them as weapons?
We whale on one another,
whisper wicked wishes
We're wretched wrecks
Why?
We were wonderful once
Weeks waxed and waned without worry,
warm and willing
Where are we now?
Waiting, weary
Welcoming winter.

Loved your Alliteration! I do a lot of them I find them fun and challenging of course! Loved your take. Do you remember me we used to chat when I was doing Bekkie In Wonderland. Just wondered.

Smart work! It has the alliterative music carrying forward consistent sense of a Gerard Manley Hopkins poem.

'...wonderful once'. once wonderful, it can be accessed again. your alliteration was on spot. as Bekkie asked...do you remember me? i still have the collage piece you so kindly sent me. it hangs in my little study.
hope you're well mi amiga

The opening question packs a huge punch, LM. You have achieved an excellent cadence throughout the poem.
