Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

Did You Get My Mix Tape?

What's up?!
Didn't mean to sneak up on you
I ...saw you leaving and
I have to follow you
Got to have some of your attention
Gonna make you notice

How I wish you could see the potential
of you and me
There's nobody else
You reject my desperate pleas
but you won't forget me
I won't let you

I wonder what clothes you wear
How you decorate your room
I will drive past your house
Stand over by the wall
Where I can see it all

I'll follow your bus downtown
See who's around
Find out who you call
I was born with a jealous mind
You gotta spend some time
With me

I'll be watching you
I'll follow you down
The sound of my voice will haunt you
I'm special
I will possess your heart.

Note: This is a "found" poem, made up of lines from songs. I've used lines from the following:

The Police-Every Breath You Take
The Pretenders-Brass In Pocket
Blondie-One Way or Another
Ludo-Go-Getter Greg
The Beatles-Run For Your Life
The Bee Gees-Nights on Broadway
Death Cab for Cutie-I Will Possess Your Heart
Weezer-Across the Sea
Fleetwood Mac-Silver Springs

no WONDER it reads like lyrics.

lolamouse, this is one of the best 'found' poems I've read in a while - seamless, perfectly on prompt, and creepy! ~

"It's an obsession" all the songs tell us that, but in real life I'm thinking "restraining order". Great use of lyrics here, LM, to remind us that the songs are sometimes the worst medicine for a broken heart.

A cool use of lyrics and sampling

Oh yeah....this is obsessive, and really creative with the use of the lyrics. the feeling of desperation and infatuation comes through in flying colors and awesome lyrics. This was fantastic...thanks for joining us on the prompt!!!!

How wonderfully clever! I was humming One Way Or Another after reading the relevant lines but didn't know it was a mash up at first!
