Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. Leonard Cohen

60 Words

Ashes to forehead
Hand to the fire
Mold your own morals
Whatever's required

Pray to your God
Know that he'll hear
Hate all the others
The ones that you fear

Enter the church
Wearing your sin
Sit near the preacher
Welcomes you in

Spit out old hatreds
Blue, white, and red
They offer love
You shoot them dead.

Utterly heartbreaking and a clear depiction of how things should never be.

And for that you are forgiven.. why hatred can be so strong I cannot understand. It should be about you not hue.

Powerful — and I wish I didn't know how sadly true.

I can only echo what everyone else has already said - incredibly powerful.

WOW!! Very fine, very relevant. How ever did you do that? Yes, we're on the same wave length, but I bow to you.

this is like that wave at the beach that laps at your feet, lulling, and then yanks them out from beneath you. powerful, indeed ~

yes, the way it went down. imagine how elated their creator is with them when their last actions in this world were welcoming ones

Ugh...you capture the symbolic nature of this vile act, as well as the physical. Some moments are icons which remain culturally embedded, and do a far different work than the little slug in this case intended. Sharp and biting, LM.
