Keep Dancing

Nothing new in Newtown
Just more murder
Fresher meat for the kill
Fresh new thrill
Pumped full of bullets
Pumped fists
Just more bullshit
Pump up the bass
and keep dancing

Pump up the bass
We’re base
debased
Lives erased
A waste
Expendable
Spendable
Endable
Pump up the bass
and keep dancing

Death of innocents
Of innocence
What’s a life worth
in dollars and cents?
 Worthless
Are their lives worth less?
Pump up the bass
and keep dancing

 Pump up the bass
Suburban basements
Guns from casements
Just in case, man
Race
for the sound bite
NRA say it is my right
Right
Good night and sleep tight
Dubstep over the bodies
Pump up the bass
Keep dancing

ugh...nicely done to the rhtyhm and beat, but stomach turning in the verse...a distant cousin texted me a pic tonight of his new assault rifle...considering i know his mental state and past psychiatric history i feel that much safer in this world tonight...ugh...live expendable...ugh

Had to look up the significance of the red goat.

I'd love to say that that cleared things up but....

You nailed it!
You got the beat!
And (sadly) the words fit...even though we don't want to know them.)

Huzzah for the Dubstep Goat!

You d-d-d-done good!

*hugs*

This poem needed to be written now! And I applaud your intrepid spirit that said what had to be said, and commend the excellent way you made the words work for you - the beat is inexorable.

Powerful words... such a horrible situation.

I think....the message here is one that comes across crystal clear. I was a bit surprised tosee you covering the topic of newtown with a dubstep goat, but after reading this piece, I commend you. I like the tie in between the self medicating with loudness and the numbness. Seems like sometimes, all that is left to feel is the bass, like a heart beat but not human. excellent work. thanks for posting this.

Cleverly done. Makes its point very vividly.

Thanks for the comments. Izy, I was hesitant to tie these topics together as well, but the relentless bass and electronic sound of the dubstep music just brought the images together for me. Hopefully, it didn't come off as callous because I've been feeling very disturbed by events lately.
